Dear Rachel,

You're almost there. A few more days.

Thank you for doing what I couldn't, growing our son inside you for nine months. Counting the IVF procedures and the recurring tests and the shots that you gave yourself, it's been nearer to a full year. At least.

I want to make sure you know, beyond any confusion, how grateful and appreciative I am. Your sacrifice for our son and for our family is remarkable. You have shown me a resolve and focus greater than any I might have imagined.

You're a small frame with a big baby. You're a strong work ethic with an on-your-feet job. You're a stomach sleeper with a long prohibition. It only gets easier but it wasn't easy.

I have been in love with you for a long time, but I have never been as in love with you as I have been these past few months. Yes, even when you're exhausted and miserable. Even when you can't sleep because you have a Thanksgiving turkey kicking you all night, the hot water heater is broken and you can't seem to stop peeing. You tough it out because you are one tough woman, making a remarkable sacrifice. You do it because you love him, and I love you for that.

Thank you for taking my hand in yours on this adventure that is about to press the eject button on life as we know it, and make our duo a trio.

I'm so incredibly proud of you. I'm so entirely in love with you.

You're going to be an incredible mother. You are already an incredible mother.
